Northern pintail , pintail  ( Anas acuta ) - a species of large, migratory bird water family Anatidae (Anatidae).
It lives in the northern parts of Eurasia and North America. Flights in March - April and September - November. Wintering in the south-west Europe, North Africa, South Asia and Central and South America. In the valley of the Nile are the most numerous species of wintering birds. In Poland, few nests (mainly in the north of the country), the few individuals overwinter.
Bird with distinctive silhouette - long slender neck and a long tail. Male larger than the female, with a distinctive, long central wheelhouse, lessons on the fly. In breeding plumage the head and upper neck dark brown, front neck and crop white. From the neck running tab white, sharply distinguishable from a brown, reaching almost to the crown. Back of the neck, sides and back gray with fine transverse striations black. White belly and chest, beak and legs sinoniebieskie. Zielonorude mirror with a narrow white stripe on the edge. Female gray-brown with brown spots and a whitish belly. Mirror green-purple, not conspicuous as in the male. Male in a period of rest and juveniles alike. Kaczor has only slightly darker back.
